b2blogic – who the hell is datalaggers?
Datalaggers is the account name and my first stab at a name for a ‘work’ blog to share items with co-workers and friends who make a living (or share a passion for) working “on” the Internet. Datalaggers was the name of my immediate work group (15 years ago) of litigation support coders who read depositions and (hand) coded the content for a massive legal database devoted to asbestos litigation. It was a 3 month gig and the 60-70 odd co-workers (emphasis on the odd) were a mix of ex-students, displaced serial temp workers, the generally displaced but presentable, and assorted bohemians. I made some good friends, learn of some incredible first hand exposures to asbestos (it was our job to employ rules to the depositions in order to establish exposure), and eventually secure a less marginal litigation support coding for the next 12 months or so. No doubt I’ll return to this moment in history somewhere down the line since it was such a surprising melding of the horrific and the quotidian.
So it’s b2blogic – as of today – since I work in a large B2B information services company. I’d rather not be too specific as the rules around blogging and the workplace clearly lack definition at present. It’s enough that B2B bumps into Logic and yields another self referential name – b2blogic!
Initially I plan to use this vehicle as a place to share my discoveries (and astonishments) with my immediate co-workers and a circle of past co-workers and friends. Oh, and I get to write a bunch and test out this software too.
